How We Started
July 2025 — Yumin Edu was born from a Google Doc.
Nothing fancy — just Kelly, her observations, and a desire to create change.
After countless long calls, Karen and Natalia joined the journey, and Yumin Edu gradually grew into four core missions: Cultural Connection, Environmental Awareness, STEM Education, and Critical Thinking (CEST).
Kelly founded Yumin Edu after moving from Taiwan to Arizona in 2022, where she experienced the challenges of adapting to a new environment as one of the few Asian students in her community.
Realizing that belonging comes through meaningful interaction rather than formal programs alone, she began building a tutoring system focused on conversation, storytelling, and confidence-building.
Starting with Karen and Natalia, Kelly grew the initiative into a volunteer network spanning five high schools, supporting over 70 families within five months. Alongside education, she later expanded her work into sustainability efforts including microplastic research and coral conservation advocacy.
